What is the GreenBook directory?

The GreenBook is a worldwide directory of marketing research companies and focus group facilities. As a guide for buyers of marketing research services, it is designed to quickly and confidently identify suitable suppliers of those services. Every company listed in the directory pays for their advertising, making the GreenBook the most reliable and useful reference resource dedicated to the marketing research industry.

Available online and in print, the GreenBook is made up of two volumes: Volume I - Directory of Marketing Research Companies and Volume II - Directory of Focus Group Companies.

The GreenBook is published by New York AMA Communication Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the New York American Marketing Association, a professional association that exists to advance the practice and understanding of effective marketing.

Who uses the GreenBook directory?

Buyers of marketing research services. For more than 45 years, GreenBook has attracted marketers and marketing research professionals who are actively seeking assistance from outside vendors. They develop short lists, make recommendations and give the final approval (based on our survey, about 65% of our online users fall into one of these categories).

What is the GreenBook used for?

Based on a recent online survey, the GreenBook is used to find new suppliers for a current marketing research project, to find companies to call in the future, to get a company's contact information, to learn more about a company before making a contact, or to locate a company or a marketing research professional.

Marketing research and focus group companies. From global providers to independent consultants, companies of all sizes and specializations advertise their expertise in the directory. The GreenBook includes full service companies, quantitative and qualitative research specialists, focus group facilities, field services and data collection companies, moderators, online research specialists, mystery shopping providers, and publishers of syndicated research.

In what formats is the GreenBook available?

The GreenBook is available in two formats:

In print:
Volume I - Marketing Research Directory is arranged alphabetically by company name and by special cross-reference indexes. Comprised of over 400 research categories, these indexes permit the listing companies to highlight the marketing research services they offer, the audiences they cover and the markets they serve.
Volume II - Focus Group Directory is arranged geographically and by special cross-reference indexes that highlight focus group facilities and qualitative research services.

Newly redesigned and optimized to achieve high rankings in search engines, the GreenBook website features the entire directory in a user-friendly and interactive format. Multiple search options quickly deliver accurate and relevant results.

Do I have to pay in order to have my company listed?

Yes, every company in the directory pays for listing. The GreenBook does not offer any free listing options.

Are there separate listings for online and print?

No. For one price, your listing will be included in the online and print editions. Most advertising features appear in both formats, significantly increasing exposure.

How long does my listing remain in the directory?

You can list your company in the GreenBook directory at any time. Your listing will immediately appear at www.GreenBook.org and will be included in the next print edition (published and mailed in February). Online listings are active for at least 12 months.

What information is included in a basic listing?

A basic listing consists of a 100-word description (800 characters) of your company and the services you provide; plus the full mailing address, phone, fax, website, email address, and up to four key personnel. It also includes a free email link. Every listing company receives a free copy of the GreenBook directory: Volume I & II.

What are the research categories?

The majority of GreenBook users search for services by using categories of market research services. Online users often search for a combination of services (categories). The more categories you select for your listing, the more frequently you reach prospective buyers. Choosing all categories that describe your firm's areas of specialization or expertise is the simplest and most effective way to increase exposure.

Is it possible to list more than one office?

To let prospective buyers know all the places where you conduct business, you can list branch offices for an additional fee. Information about your branches appear both online and in print. Consider an individual listing (instead of a branch) if different services or equipment are offered at different locations.

What listing option is best for me?

Choose the 'a la carte' method to take advantage of the full array of listing enhancements and advertising features available. With this option, you are able to select as many or as few enhancements as you like. If you are unsure what listing options are best for you, and you are new to the GreenBook consider purchasing an Express Package.

What is an Express Package?

Designed for new listers, our convenient packages give great exposure both in print and online for the best price. Express Packages simplify the sign-up process by pre-selecting a combination of listing features: a Basic Listing and a number of Research Categories. You save 20% of what you would pay if you were to buy the Basic Listing and Research Categories individually.

The categories of market research services that you choose will describe your firm's areas of specialization and expertise. If you have a qualitative division or provide focus group services, choose the Focus Group Package.

Please note: When you select an Express Package, it is not possible to include additional advertising features such as a logos or banner ads.

Can I make changes to my listing after it is posted?

Yes, changes can be made to a listing at any time throughout the year except during the listing renewal period (September and October). During the renewal period, please email us at ncardenas@greenbook.org to request any edits. During all other months, you can change content of your Basic Listing as well as purchase additional enhancements. These items will be pro-rated if purchased after the renewal period.

Can I save my work and come back later?

Yes, you can log off at any time and save your information and the choices you have made for a later session. To submit a finalized listing or a listing update, always proceed via Checkout. If you log off without checking out, changes will not be applied your listing.

How do I access my account?

You can access your listing account by clicking the Account Login link near in the upper righr corner of your screen. You will need your company ID # and password. If you do not know your company ID # and password, or need assistance, please call (212) 849-2752.

Can I update my listing?

Yes, updates can be made directly to a listing at any time throughout the year except during the listing renewal period (September and October). During the renewal period, please email us at ncardenas@greenbook.org to request any edits. What if I forgot my company ID and password?

If you forget your company ID # and password, all you have to do is call us at 800.792.9202 (+1.212.849.2752). While the company ID # is automatically generated for your listing, you can always change your password.

Can I renew a listing that has expired?

Yes. If you did not renew your company listing for the current edition of the GreenBook, you can still use your original company ID # and password to renew for the following edition. There is no need to create a completely new account.

What are the requirements for an online logo file?

The following are the required specifications for an online logo:

File formats: GIF or JPG
Maximum dimensions: 3.5" wide x 2" high
Resolution: 72 dpi
Maximum file size: 30K

What are the requirements for a print logo file?

Requirements for online and print logo files are different. What is acceptable online will not reproduce well in the print edition because a computer screen has a much lower resolution than a printed publication.

Please email your print logo file to lpospichal@greenbook.org.
The following are the required specifications for a print logo:

File formats: TIF or EPS
Maximum dimensions: 2.5" wide x 1" high
Resolution: 300 dpi

Why doesn't my logo appear in my listing?

If you upload a logo file and it is not displaying properly (you will see a small box with a red "x" in the center), your file probably does not match the specifications. If you are having difficulty manipulating size or resolution, please email your file to lpospichal@greenbook.org and request assistance.

What payment options are available?

Advertising in the GreenBook directory can be purchased with a credit card, check or wire transfer. Once payment is received, all purchases or listings upgrades will be approved and posted within two business days. If you are paying with a check, please be sure to make it payable to "NYACS" (New York AMA Communication Services) or to "GreenBook".

Will I receive a payment confirmation?

Yes. When our secure online system processes your credit card successfully, you will be taken to a confirmation page. A link for a printable invoice will appear. In addition, you will receive an email confirmation of your order. If you indicate check or wire transfer as your method of payment, a link for a printable invoice, detailing your selections, will also appear. An email confirmation of your order will be sent as well.
